About the job:

We are looking for an experienced UX/UI Designer to join our team and help craft an intuitive, engaging, and visually appealing user experience for our upcoming mobile visual novel game. You will play a key role in designing interactive story interfaces, choice-based navigation, and mobile-friendly UI elements that enhance the gameplay experience.

About your key responsibilities and impact:

• User Experience Design: Create seamless, user-friendly UI/UX solutions for a mobile-first interactive storytelling experience
• Wireframing & Prototyping: Develop wireframes, flowcharts, and prototypes to visualize user journeys and UI layouts
• Visual Design: Create a unique visual language for the UI with the art director. Design menus, dialogue boxes, choice-based UI elements, and animations, ensuring a polished and immersive interface
• Mobile Optimization: Ensure the UI is optimized for different screen sizes, resolutions, and mobile interactions
• Implementation: Work closely with developers, tech artists, and writers to implement and refine UI elements in the Unity engine
• Usability Testing & Iteration: Conduct user research, A/B testing, Surveys, Interviews, and feedback analysis to refine the interface based on player behavior
• Documentation & Guidelines: Maintain a UI style guide, ensuring consistency across all design elements
• Collaboration: Work with the Production team, narrative designers, game designers, and marketing team to create UI that enhances storytelling and engagement.

About you:

• 5+ years of experience in UI/UX design for mobile games or interactive applications
• A strong portfolio showcasing game UI design, wireframing, and prototyping
• Proficiency in Figma, Adobe XD, Photoshop, or similar design tools
• Experience designing for visual novels, interactive stories, or choice-based games
• Knowledge of user experience principles, especially in dialogue-heavy games
• Strong typography, layout, and iconography skills for readability and accessibility
• Ability to create UI animations and transitions using After Effects, Unity UI tools, or Spine
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance aesthetics and usability
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, working effectively with cross-functional teams
• Passion for interactive storytelling, casual mobile games, and visual novel genres.

Will be a plus:

• Experience working on mobile casual games or free-to-play UI design
• Familiarity with monetization strategies, in-app purchases, and UX for retention
• Unity engine knowledge and basic scripting for UI implementation
• Knowledge of accessibility best practices for UI/UX design
• Understanding of interactive fiction, anime, or visual novel aesthetics.
