Role Overview
The Copywriter HBCU Fellowship offers an exciting, hands-on opportunity for recent graduates or master’s students from accredited Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). As a fellow, you will immerse yourself in all aspects of agency work, supporting Taylor’s creative team while gaining invaluable real-world experience. This six-month, full-time paid fellowship is designed to help launch your career in PR, social, and digital marketing.
Key Responsibilities and Learning Opportunities
Shape
- Apply evolving copywriting principles to create content that aligns with client business needs, brands, and industries.
- Stay current with marketing, design, technology, and cultural trends to infuse fresh ideas into your work.
- Collaborate across teams (Strategy, Account, Creative) to deliver innovative, goal-driven copy.
- Contribute to campaign elements such as digital/social content, event activations, brand identity systems, and print materials.
Make
- Assist senior team members with crafting creative platforms, manifestos, and copy for presentations and final execution.
- Take ownership of assigned projects, collaborating across functional teams to deliver impactful work.
- Self-edit and incorporate feedback to continuously improve copywriting.
- Manage multiple assignments while maintaining consistency within the broader brand strategy.
Communication and Storytelling
- Partner with Art Directors to conceptualize ideas and create polished presentations.
- Pitch creative ideas with confidence and clarity.
- Master storytelling through compelling headlines, idea statements, and written content.
- Clearly communicate creative concepts internally and externally.
Concepting
- Participate actively in brainstorming for digital/social content, event activations, and campaign elements.
- Develop quick-turn ideas that tap into cultural moments and trends.
- Ensure all creative work aligns with broader brand strategy and identity.
Fellowship Requirements
- Recent graduate or master’s degree holder from an accredited HBCU.
- Relevant experience through internships, coursework, or prior work in PR, advertising, or digital marketing.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and time-management abilities.
- A team-oriented mindset with openness to feedback and collaboration.
- A problem-solver eager to learn, improve, and adapt.
Additional Details
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. ET (35–40 hours/week).
- Compensation: $4,166.68 per month, less applicable deductions, with PTO and holidays included.
- Fellowship runs from January 8, 2025, to June 27, 2025.
