About the Role
Are you passionate about the night sky and excited to guide readers through the wonders of astronomy? Space.com, the leading platform for space exploration, innovation, and astronomy news, is seeking a Sky Watching Writer. In this role, you’ll create engaging content that covers astronomical events and trends, ensuring our audience has access to fresh, accurate, and compelling information throughout the year.

Reporting directly to the Editor-in-Chief, you'll manage feature and educational content, breaking news, and trending sky-watching coverage across Space.com and its social channels.

Responsibilities

  • Content Creation: Develop engaging feature and educational articles aligned with the astronomical calendar.
  • Channel Management: Keep the sky-watching section updated and engaging.
  • SEO Optimization: Ensure articles are search-engine optimized.
  • Trend Spotting: Identify and report on trending sky-watching topics and breaking news.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with the editorial content team on broader projects.
  • General Editorial Tasks: Sub-edit and proofread content to ensure quality and consistency.

Requirements

  • A deep understanding of the night sky and astronomical events.
  • Experience in content creation for editorial websites.
  • Strong proofreading and sub-editing skills.
  • Creative and innovative approach to content development.
