Role Overview – Lead Level Designer:
We’re seeking a Lead Level Designer who has experience in linear, narrative-driven games and is skilled in action/adventure or shooter genres. This leadership role involves guiding a team of level designers, collaborating with content and feature teams, and directly shaping gameplay mechanics and level content. Your passion for third-person shooters, melee combat, and puzzle systems will help drive the vision of our projects forward.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Report to the Game Director, overseeing level design reviews and mentoring the design team.
  • Collaborate with the Creative Director and Game Director to achieve the game’s overall vision.
  • Take a hands-on approach, developing prototypes and creating shipping-ready levels to lead by example.
  • Contribute to the creation of new mechanics, systems, and interactive objects while scripting gameplay events.
  • Work cross-functionally with engineering, animation, art, and design teams to ensure seamless content integration and efficient workflows.

Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to visualize and articulate ideas clearly.
  • Proven ability to blend narrative elements with core gameplay for enhanced player engagement.
  • Experience with Unreal Engine and technical competence in level layout and scripting tools.
  • Ability to mentor and empower designers while fostering a sense of ownership over their work.
  • A well-rounded perspective that integrates story, mechanics, and technology effectively.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Base salary range: $150,000–$190,000 (U.S. only).
  • Additional compensation may include equity and profit sharing.
